There is nothing like a backless dress when it comes to showing both sex appeal and elegance.

And Helen McCrory and Eliza Doolittle almost stole the show at the BFI’s Luminous Gala Dinner on Tuesday in daring backless gowns.

Actress Helen McCrory wore a strapless nude gown, which featured floral beading, a low-cut back and black straps across the back.

The 45-year-old star completed her sultry look with long black velvet gloves and diamond drop earrings.

She also swept her brunette hair over one shoulder for a sophisticated look.
Singer Eliza Doolittle, 25, went for a similar look, wearing a lilac silk gown with a dramatically low-cut back.

It also featured sheer swirling floral detailing at the sides for added sexiness.

She also wore red lipstick and her long curly locks loose and flowing, lending a romantic effect to her outfit.

The stars attended the special dinner to celebrate film talent and help raise funds for the BFI’s National Archive.

Eliza Doolittle sang at the Gala Dinner, where there was also an auction of prizes including Daniel Craig’s velvet jacket from Our Friends in the North, child and walk-on parts in BFI Film Fund films and the opportunity to join Ken Loach editing his latest film Jimmy’s Hall.

The event also takes place on the eve of the London Film Festival, which is in its 57th year, taking place from 9-20 October.
