When designers pull out all the stops to outfit Hollywood's biggest stars, as was the case at last night's Golden Globe Awards,
accessories have a tendency to get lost in the shuffle. Luckily for us
detail-oriented folks, there were a few style sidekicks that earned
themselves a starring
role in the night's most memorable moments. And
no, we're not strictly talking about jewelry and beaded clutches here.
We're talking about accessories in the
unconventional sense of the word. Take a look at the biggest scene-stealers...
AMY POEHLER'S 'RANDY' WIG

During the three-hour telecast's mid-show lull, our reliable hostesses (all hail
Tina and Amy)
performed a little stunt to kick us out of our Seamless-delivery food
coma. As Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick showed off their Miss Golden
Globe daughter, Sosie Bacon,
Tina Fey interrupted to introduce the world to her illegitimate love child Randy, a.k.a. Mr. Golden Globe, a.k.a.
Amy Poehler in a flippy
Justin Bieber-esque
wig. It was one of the best gags of the night, and that highlighted 'do
stole the show. P.S. Does anyone else think Amy was one of the hottest
guys in attendance? Just me? *ACHEM* Moving on...
EMMA THOMPSON'S LOUBOUTINS

Emma Thompson's presentation ended up being another one of the most
talked about moments of the evening, thanks in large part to her
entrance: walking onto the stage barefoot, holding her
Christian Louboutins
in hand and later chucking them over her shoulder. She pointed to the
shoes' iconic soles and said, "I just want you to know, this red? It's
my blood," we could relate about 100%. Monsieur Louboutin may not have
loved the gesture, but she's just speaking a truth that every woman
who's spent over an hour in three-inch-plus heels with a ~delicate~ toe
box knows. #factsonly That ish ain't comfy.

JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS' HOT DOG

Julia Louis-Dreyfus wins the award for Best Audience Member. No
contest. We love when funny ladies join forces, and Julia was clearly in
on some of Amy and Tina's jokes. About midway through the show, the
hosts pointed out how the double nominee (for her show
Veep and the movie
Enough Said)
had "slithered back to the TV section" after they had ribbed her
earlier for ditching the TV crowd to sit in the film section. Cut to
Louis-Dreyfus unabashedly chomping on a hot dog and eagerly waving. The
mustard-and-relish-covered frank, of course, was a symbol, playing to
the silly idea that television actors are not as classy as their
Hollywood counterparts, but we're pretty sure ballpark fare has never
looked quite so glamorous.
BABY BUMPS

One of the most beautiful, not-found-in-stores accessories of the night was the BABY BUMP, as showcased by beauties
Olivia Wilde,
Kerry Washington, and
Drew Barrymore.
Long gone are the days of moms-to-be drowning their growing bellies
under curtains of fabric. We LOVED Olivia's shimmering emerald
Gucci gown that hugged, not hid, her growing belly. Kerry took a similar approach with her structured
Balenciaga gown, and that pale color totally enhanced her pregnancy glow. Drew looked positively radiant (and comfortable!) in her airy
Monique Lhuillier dress covered in red and pink petal appliqués. They made dressing for a bun in the oven look easy!
BONO

Finally, the ultimate and most unexpected accessory of the night—Bono! Who knew? First, his mere appearance made
Cate Blanchett
drop a quippy zinger on the red carpet ("Your first album was really
good!"). Then he prompted a universal cringe when he awkwardly dodged
Diddy's
bromantic advances while collecting his award for Best Original Song.
And lastly, in the greatest moment of the entire night, he appeared as
Amy Poehler's personal masseur and subsequent make-out partner (upon her
win). Every star he touched turned to internet gold, which makes him,
IMHO, the best kind of sidekick. Bono, you did us proud.
