All in favor of adding a Best Manic Pixie Dream Girl in a Fashion Promo category to the Oscars lineup this year? AYEEEE! We're pretty sure any of the four ladies from Miu Miu's new Spring/Summer 2014 campaign video would walk away victorious.
As we already knew, the fashion house wisely chose Elle Fanning, Lupita Nyong'o, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bella Heathcote
to headline their newest campaign. But you guys, NOTHING can adequately
prepare you for the epileptic romp that is this commercial, shot by
photographer duo Inez and Vinoodh.
Set to a techno Porter Robinson
track, the video includes about 75 zillion shots (more or less) in the
span of a minute. While each separate shot could easily be isolated and
repurposed for print, the video game quickness of the
chopped-and-screwed final edit is way cooler, especially with addition
of translucent Miu Miu patterns overlaying the footage. You really have
to watch this thing a couple dozen times to pick up on all the nuances,
but let us help you out with a basic fashion breakdown...

Miu Miu's collection is all about purses and opaque tights in every
color, chunky accessories, and gorgeously wearable prints (our favorite
is probably the semi-menacing cat print that makes several unexpected
appearances). We wish this line had come out a month ago so we could put
the ENTIRE thing on our holiday wish lists; sadly, we'll just have to
find some other excuse. Each of the featured "It" Girls plays up a
different quality of the collection, and it's clear that Inez and
Vinoodh let them stay true to their own established personalities.

Elle Fanning wins for most adorable. Hands down. She's also easily
the star of the commercial, modeling more looks than the other ladies.
She wears at least four bold tights + purse + heels combinations with
her youthful and ethereal quirkiness. Combine that with a curly high
ponytail and her arsenal of funny faces, and you have yourself cuteness
personified. We particularly love the long-sleeved printed white dress
she wears with goldenrod tights and cat-eye glasses.

Lupita Nyong'o is her typical self—a poised and graceful breath of
fresh air—as she laughs her way through poses fit for an art museum. She
models pieces closer to the high-fashion end of the spectrum, like the
fringed and bejeweled tank top and knee-length brown leather jacket with
the aforementioned cat print on the pocket. She is also queen of the
closeups, allowing her to showcase both Miu Miu's accessories (that
rainbow choker!) and her flawless skin.
